Chiefs State They Are Aware of Domestic Violence Allegations Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night confirming they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and had been in contact with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of Rice specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice missed the initial part of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his involvement in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals hurt. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

Statistically, he concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a ten-year span.
