Anthony Joshua Released from Medical Facility in Lagos Following Fatal Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday evening. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash outside Lagos on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that took the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
Joshua had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, his management team confirmed on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on social media that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.
“The boxer and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.
Remembering the Victims
The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two trusted companions.”
The news of his discharge comes as the sports world had expressed condolences for the fighter in the following the heartbreaking incident.
